Robin Robertson has been described as one of the finest lyric poets of our time. In a departure from his previous collections, the eminent Scottish poet’s most recent work, ‘The Long Take’, is a 220-page narrative poem, an account of an emotionally and geographically stranded war veteran looking for healing in post-war America. Writing in the Guardian, John Banville called it ‘a beautiful, vigorous and achingly melancholy hymn to the common man that is as unexpected as it is daring’.
In July this year, The Long Take was longlisted for the 2018 Man Booker prize. In an Australian exclusive for QPF2018, join Robertson for an enlightening conversation examining the unique and vital role of literature in revealing the human condition.
He’ll be in conversation with Felicity Plunkett, leading Australian poet and critic, and poetry editor at University of Queensland Press (UQP).
