GEMMA MAHADEO

Gemma Mahadeo came to Australia from the UK in 1987. She is a Melbourne-based writer and musician who has performed in the disability troupe ‘Quippings’. Her work has appeared in Cordite, Going Down Swinging, Island (online), Peril, Plumwood Mountain, Rabbit, The Suburban Review, and Tincture. In 2018, she completed a Women Writers of Colour commission to write three video game ekphrastic poems on the theme of ‘collaboration’ for Writers Victoria’s membership magazine. She currently reviews Victorian beer for Froth, is reviews editor for the Melbourne Spoken Word website, and recently appeared on panels at Freeplay & Melbourne’s Emerging Writers’ Festival.
